Artist and Art Teacher Liz Bure is teaching a Jewelry Class, all materials included. Create a beadwoven collar necklace using Glass & Pearls & Czech and Swarovski crystals, and sterling silver findings, using a needle and thread.

Class Info: This 4 hour class will teach you what you need to create beautiful indoor stained glass mosaics. Instruction will cover substrates, materials, tools, cutting, tessarae, adhesives, design, and setting. The cost includes materials and instruction. If you have any special materials you'd like to use, like a broken plate or a special stone, feel free to bring them in! Each student will create an 8x8" mosaic mirror.*
Limit 6 students.
*Grouting a finished mosaic is something that must be done at least 24 hours
after all the pieces have been set. You have 2 options for grouting your mosaic: A. You can have me grout it for no extra cost and pick it up later on that week, or B. come in for a grouting class session the next day to learn how it's done for $15. (Takes about an hour.) Crabtree Paint Out - Art in Nature
On Sept. 19th The Crabtree Nature Center of Barrington held its first “Paint Out”. Sponsors were BCAC, Dick Blick and The Cook County Forest Preserve. Twenty three artists signed up for the event and over 200 people attended. A kids/adults “Paint a Masterpiece” workshop took place during the day with Dixie Rogus and Denise Peters instructing.
The Paint Out was the idea of Carol Foster and Bob Nielsen both BCAC members. Also assisting were Gloria Zucaro, Paul Kurek, Beth Cohen and Stacy Nielsen. The Crabtree staff directed by Jeff Rapp and Sue Dombro were instrumental in making sure everything ran smoothly.
Each artist was asked to bring two paintings plus display their work done that day. Six paintings were sold. Judging was done by participating artists awarding The Best of Show to Lee Radtke and Honorary Mention to Bill Limbaugh, Sandy Schmidt, and Kathy Clouse.
It was a fun day and an opportunity to meet other artists in the area. See Upcoming Events page for next year's date.

Looking to improve your singing voice? Come for a voice workshop Thursday, March 11 from 7-9:00 pm at Ice House Mall. Attendees are encouraged to perform, so get ready to polish up a song with help from voice coach Jeanie Carter. Bring your instrumental CD and your talent--your fans may be surprised at how quickly a song can improve with a few strategic tips! Several Bel Canto students will perform, including adults. It is open to the public free of charge. For adults and children.
The workshop will explore a typical voice lesson and talk about goals and performance opportunities available to students of all ages and experience levels. Jeanie is director of Bel Canto Studios in downtown Barrington. Her performance credits range from opera and oratorio to pop, jazz, swing, musical theatre, blues, and contemporary worship. Jeanie also coaches classic and modern rock, country pop, gospel, R&B, voice-overs and public speaking.
