Beth Lynn Cohen is a cancer survivor who gratefully expresses her passion for life and its many colors on canvas. Although Beth has a special love for painting animals in an elegant manner or with humor, she is not limited to them. Her eye and brush get caught by nature at any given moment and she loves to paint children at play. She also paints portraits.
Beth’s first charcoal drawing won an award at Village Art School in Skokie. She then began studying with Frankie Johnson at Studio in the Woods, later at Studio in Long Grove, where Beth’s art work was on display, and then followed Frankie to Main Street Art Centre, where Beth has exhibited her art also. She is currently studying at Main Street Art Centre with Susan Ploughe. Beth had paintings on display at Lethy Colors in Long Grove, Bubotto and the The Milk Pail in East Dundee, as well as Harring Gallery in Richmond, all in Illinois.
Beth has studied with Chris Berlini, Gamal El Lethy, and Michael DeFrancesco. Beth studied an ancient Japanese embroidery called Bunka Shi-Shu under Virginia Galanis. Beth's intricate, layered work was on display at Botanic Gardens and at Mayor Washington’s Folk Fair Festival and she helped teach at Virginia’s gallery and at Botanic Gardens.
