Cynthia Marrazzo Shiley was born and raised in Morton Grove, IL.  She spent her childhood drawing, painting, dancing and playing sports.  At age 13, Cindy was already receiving awards for her artwork.  As a teen, Cindy and her art teachers had their eyes set on the Art Institute of Chicago.  Cindy’s parents wanted something more practical.  So at 17, Cindy put down her paint brushes and enlisted in the US Marine Corps.  With the help of the USMC, she traveled throughout most of the Unites States, where she explored her love of nature.

Cindy came home and again her parents directed her to study math and science.  She started school in Architecture but eventually graduated from Illinois Institute of Technology in 1980 with a BS in engineering and did post graduate work in Biomechanical Engineering at University of Illinois at Chicago until her son was born.  For the next 36 years Cindy raised children and Irish Wolfhounds, danced, worked part-time as an engineer, remodeled houses, and embroidered. In 2009 through a series of life changes, Cindy picked up her paint brushes again and instantly remembered her true love of art.  She is delighted to have a second chance to fulfill her dreams and create.  She still loves Architecture and the engineering training has helped with the accuracy of her paintings.

Cindy lives in the northwest suburbs of Chicago and is currently studying art under the direction of Frankie Johnson.  Cindy feels she has finally come back home to her art.  Cindy’s artwork can be found in the United States and Europe
.
