While attending Layton School of Art in Milwaukee, I was profoundly influenced after viewing Monet's "Haystacks" and the "Parliament of London."  I knew then that art was to be my lifetime passion.

After retiring from a counseling career, I returned to painting and began classes with Frankie Johnson at Mainstreet Art Center, where I continue as a student.
My painting style tends toward representational. I prefer working in oils which provide more possibilities, depth, texture and style.  Painting subjects are quite eclectic – Native American artifacts, mountains of China, Japanese Raku pottery, woodland scenes and antique items are but a few examples.  Shadow and light, fog on mountains or in forests, and sunlight through a window are but a few inspirational subjects.

Joyce's artwork has been shown in the Burpee Art Gallery (Rockford), Heritage Gallery (Arlington Heights), Women's Works (Woodstock) and the Elk Grove Village Art Center.  Her work is also in private collections in Illinois, Wisconsin, Nevada, Louisiana and Georgia.  She is a member of Northwest Area Arts Council, the Barrington Cultural Arts Center, the Artists Association of Elk Grove Village and the Arlington Heights Art Guild.
